here is my latest craft, can i just get a job doing this for a year please!?
1. One of my biggest hopes is to find something/one/place meaningful in Waco to work for. My boyfriend/best friend Cody is staying here to prepare for graduate auditions - I'll devote a post to him soon - and I'd love to be nearby. My thoughts so far on Waco jobs are these few: The Wacoan (city magazine), Baylor PR, Baylor Study Abroad, The Marketing Spot, the Mayborn Museum and possibly the Dwyer Group.
The stress lies in finding somewhere that will take me for just a year, as I fully intend to jet after I uncover a graduate program that suits me. Sound flakey? In my opinion, job experience is critical to finding direction for all things career.
Other job idea: Maybe an elementary art teacher needs an assistant around here!
2. Austin. Texas. Oh Austin I ADORE you. You are environmentally friendly, cultured and oh so clean. And your choice of location is perfect too. My two hopes in this great city lie in events planning and advocay marketing - Sherry Matthews Advocacy Marketing to be specific. She is a self-starting go-getter with a huge heart dedicated to changes lives and educating others. SM has done some great awareness campaigns and has such a clean style. I love it!
I actually got to work on a PR team for her here at Baylor last week for an event held for the opening of her book, We Were Not Orphans. It's a poignant read with beautiful photographs, and sheds light on the darker places here in Texas that we need to be watching out for, specifically the children in them - and anyone who can't speak for themselves. She is a huge role model of mine, and landing a job at her firm would be HUGE for me!
With all this job hunting in the works, I'm getting really excited about actually finding one/being hired! I've loved being in school, but this nest is getting too small. All my connections are here basically, but I'm trying to get my name out as best I can in places I love.
